The first of the Concert Series!! Calexico!

THE REGINA FOLK FESTIVAL CONCERT SERIES is pleased to announce:

CALEXICO
Friday, September 24th
at the Exchange 2431 8th Ave
...Doors open at 8pm

After wowing crowds (and festival organizers alike) on Saturday night of the 2010 Regina Folk Festival, they are back in Regina for one night! Boy, are we glad to have them!

There's always been intrigue and adventure at the heart of Calexico. Ever since they were a largely instrumental duo experimenting with their unique collection of instruments and soundtrack sensibilities, Joey Burns and John Convertino have constantly imbued their music with an unparalleled sense of drama, calling upon the myths and iconography of the American West and Mexico. They named themselves after a town near the California/Mexico border in honor of the cultural mélange that informs their diverse influences which includes Portuguese Fado, 50's jazz, Gypsy or Romany music and its offshoots, 60's surf and twang.

Calexico is: John Convertino - drums; Joseph Burns - vocals, guitar; Christopher Giambelluca - bass; Jacob Valenzuela - trumpet; Michael Carabajal - trumpet; Paul Neihaus - guitar; Sergio Mendoza - keys

Tickets are $20 in advance available at Bird Films or Vintage Vinyl
$25 at the door (subject to availability and with cash only)

There will be some seats available but this is a concert where standing and dancing are strongly encouraged. If you require a seat, be sure to arrive early as they are extremely limited.
