Lost & Found!

Hello good folks!

I hope your August has been most splendid!  I think I can speak for everyone here and say it was pretty wonderful for us!

After coming back from holidays and sorting through some of the festival detritus, we've found a number of lost items and we'd love to return them to their owners.

If you've lost something please give us a phone call at 757-0308 or email info@reginafolkfestival.com.

We'll hold on to these things for a while but in a few weeks we will donate them to Salvation Army or destroy them (accordingly :)).

Thanks,
Amanda Minion

We received tons of welcome coverage from the media!  Below are a few bits to chew upon over your morning cereal...

From Global Regina, a note from Friday, before the show really got going.

Sarah Harmer says she's glad to be back!

Rhonda Nye wrote a couple nice blog posts about us!

A beautiful short film by Preston Kanak

Regina's new cultural guide - BuzzCity - interviewed local artists Pile of Bones Brass Band and BD Willoughby! Be sure to watch the videos of their concerts!

RFF President thanks the sublime Regina crowd for making this year's fest a magical affair!

A review from the Monday following the fest! Musical celebrations and creative inventiveness!

Here a few little bytes from artists and patrons alike:

Grant Lawrence (our Friday Mainstage host and CBC Radio 3 host/blogger) says, "A quick note to give you a HUGE thanks for including me once again in what is truly a beautiful and unique Canadian event. I love my time at the Regina Folk Festival and I am just so impressed that it seems to get better and better every year. It's an honour to be on that stage, representing the
festival!"

Hot Club Edmonton, Mr. Something Something and Arrested Development sent us many thanks for inviting them to participate in RFF, making sure to let us know they had a brilliant time!

RFF patron, Ingrid wishes us well: "Congratulations you good people who do so much work for the benefit of community and the arts.  This festival was the best one in a long time.  Certainly all of them are very good but this last year was excellent.
Thanks so much everyone."
Oh gosh, that was nice wasn't it?

Stay tuned for a tweet story!

41ST REGINA FOLK FESTIVAL ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL SUCCESS
 2010 logo

The 2010 Regina Folk Festival was a resounding success; many thanks to our valiant (and valuable) volunteers, generous sponsors, talented artists, and you, the people of Regina, our passionate patrons!

Congratulations to the winner of our 50/50 prize. The lucky ticket was # 0001.

Chris Graham Photography - crowd 2010

The daytime workshops drew in thousands of people to downtown Regina and the evening concerts provided a great mix of legends and new talent.  We had an excellent and eclectic line-up including John Prine, Calexico, Sarah Harmer, Arrested Development, Buffy Sainte-Marie and Patrick Watson. There were artists from all over Canada, the United States and South America and from right here!  Local artists were are always an incredibly important aspect of the festival!

In keeping with the folk festival tradition of showcasing cultural diversity, the RFF celebrated the Year of the Métis.  A workshop, 'Métissage: A Cultural Weave,' was hosted by Buffy Sainte-Marie and featured artists Ghostkeeper, Yves Lambert and Bette & Wallet.

With such heartfelt gratitude for so much participation from our audience and volunteers, our coordinators and sponsors, our artists and vendors, we at the Regina Folk Festival office are proud to have c-created with you the opportunity for music and community, for a tiny respite from rigidity and obligation, for sweaty dancing and sweet hand-holding.  Much love from all of us!

Get your calendars out!  We're already making plans for the 42nd Regina Folk Festival scheduled for August 5-7, 2011.

We're also making plans for the upcoming Concert Series!  Be sure to check the other side to our website for details!
